More About Mimi and Yoga Mimi's combination of training in yoga, music, singing and songwriting makes her a uniquely qualified instructor. Mimi has studied aesthetic education at Lincoln Center in Manhattan and has worked with the educational branch of the Metropolitan Opera. She has performed locally and throughout the tri-state area for nearly twenty years and has taught people of all ages and abilities. Mimi has worked extensively with the program known as The Artist's Way, a spiritual path to higher creativity that has earned praise from people of all types including acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese. Mimi has worked through the program twice and attended workshops with author Julia Cameron. Kripalu Yoga: Gentle, Moderate, Dynamic or Beginner's Series: Throughout Kripalu's three stage approach you are guided to move at your own pace, honoring your body's needs in each moment. A series of restorative yoga poses to create active relaxation. By supporting the body with props, the body is alternately stimulated and relaxed, moving towards balance. Body of Writing: A workshop for people who write, or want to write. A workshop for people who need to write. Explore your writing, explore your body, receive the benefits of more closely connecting the two. The Body of Writing workshop offers a variety of inspirational writing exercises & simple yoga postures as well as meditation & visualization techniques that will help you access the stories you carry in your body. The artistic aspect of your self will be challenged and nurtured, and you will leave the workshop feeling both relaxed and stimulated with new goals for your writing life. This workshop is for small or large groups, and can also be done one on one. Ideal for writing retreats and conferences, yoga studios and bookstores. What you’ll need for class: new notebook of letter size lined paper, pen or pencil, yoga mat and blanket. Please wear comfortable non-restrictive clothing. Please note: no previous experience with yoga or creative writing is necessary. Body. Mind. Spirit. Story. Yoga & Hiking In Hartshorne Woods: After light, warm up stretches, the group moves through a period of friendly chatting into silence, hiking through the woods with a mindful and meditative attitude. Stopping at various times to appreciate nature and for refreshments, the journey ends with a short series of yoga postures. This session is based on concepts & techniques developed by The Kripalu Yoga Center for their two and five day Yoga & Hiking Programs, which Mimi has assisted numerous times.
